Water Education Highlights

The Sandwich Water District celebrated its twentieth year of Water Sandwich Water District, Town of Sandwich, Cape Cod, Water Supply | Large water droplet containing images of different color hand printsEducation Programs for fourth grade students in the Sandwich Schools with more than 125 students from the H.T. Wing and Oak Ridge Schools participating in our annual spring poster contest. 

The theme “What do you know about H20?” was in celebration of National Drinking Water Week, May 3rd-10th.  

Posters were judged by the Board of Water Commissioners for their originality and creativity.  All winners were invited to an awards ceremony at the District Office where they were presented with a Citation from the Massachusetts House of Representatives and a goodie bag with donations from local businesses.

The First Prize Winner for the 2016 Poster Contest was Cole Cosgrove from the H. T. Wing School.  In addition to his goodie bag, Cole received an engraved trophy celebrating his efforts.

Hazardous Waste
Collection

The improper disposal of hazardous materials can cause serious contamination to water supplies and the environment. As residents of Cape Cod we all can contribute to protecting our natural resources through proper waste disposal. Do not pour hazardous wastes or paints down any septic systems, private or public drains, on the ground, or into waterways. Safe disposal of materials through the Hazardous Waste Collection Program will help to keep our drinking water and our community pollution-free.
